THE STORY SO FAR

Every name holds
a story.

The Casaus family story includes deep roots in Peñasco and northern New Mexico. Like any family history, ours is built from more than dates and names: work, faith, relationships, places, and memories all matter.

At the heart of this family record are Erminio “Herman” Casaus Sr. and Kathy D. Casaus, who were married for 54 years and raised four children. Herman, born in Peñasco in 1932, worked as a miner and retired from the Nevada Test Site. Their family story continues through children, grandchildren, and later generations. The gold-accented branch of the tree traces the surname from Elaine Casaus to her son Jessy Sr. and his son Jessy Jr. The tree also includes Jessy Sr.’s wife Karen and all four of their children, honoring each family branch.

This website is a growing archive. We distinguish documented details from family recollections and open research questions, because preserving the story means getting it right.

The highlighted branch follows one confirmed continuation of the Casaus name through Elaine, Jessy Sr., and Jessy Jr. It is not a claim that other branches cannot carry the name. The daughters remain equally visible, while the gold highlight marks Jessy Jr. as the currently identified next generation using the Casaus surname. Surnames can continue through any family branch, and no future surname choice is presumed.

PEÑASCO, NEW MEXICO THE ANCESTRAL LANDSCAPE

WHERE OUR STORY TAKES ROOT

Northern
New Mexico.

Peñasco, surrounded by the mountain landscapes of northern New Mexico, is a documented birthplace in our family line and an important point of connection to earlier generations.

Old records sometimes vary in the spelling of family names. Casaus and Casados are spellings worth researching together, but we will not treat them as interchangeable without evidence for each connection.
